Shut Down Ryding-Regency
The CFIA has had video evidence from Toronto Cow Save for over a year proving that conscious cows are being hoisted and skinned alive at the Ryding-Regency slaughter plant in Toronto but has done nothing. Toronto Pig Save has a petition asking the government to shut down Ryding-Regency: 80+ activists storming the CFIA Canadian Food Inspection Agency office in Toronto demanding we #ShutDownRydingRegency:

The Save Movement joins the Alliance to End Chickens as Kaporos
These are but a few of the 60,000 chickens who suffered in New York City Streets for a ritual slaughter known as Kaporos. These 6-week-old chickens are left crammed in crates with no water, food or comfort for up to days before being brutalized and killed. Activists are here providing what comfort they can to these young birds.
The Save Movement joined the Alliance to End Chickens as Kaporos for the first time in Brooklyn, NYC.

Enjoying the grass for the first time. These are 7 of the rescued chickens from the carnage in NYC. Support #kindkaporos — use coins, not innocent chickens.

Activist Joshua Entis has spent the last few years traveling the world, participating in animal rights events, and motivating thousands of people to choose compassion and take veganism seriously.
Joshua joined Ontario Save groups for vigils during the week of September 10. Thank you Joshua for all you do.

Climate Vegan‘s core message is: Help save the planet by going vegan and becoming active.

“There is an easy way to reduce global depletion, mitigate climate change, minimize world hunger and poverty, and use our land, water, and other resources more efficiently and peacefully-with no slaughtering. The answer to achieving the highest level of relative sustainability can be found on our plates.”

– Dr. Richard Oppenlander, Food Choice and Sustainability

Let’s mobilize to fight climate change
The headlines tell us what’s happening, but not what to do about it.
The Save Movement is working to set up a Climate Vegan working group to produce a plan of action and to launch campaigns to address this most urgent of disasters. We will involve our 480+ chapters in 56 countries around the world. Climate change is happening and it is absolutely critical that we mobilize to fight it before it’s too late.
We need all the help we can get. Please join us!

Hi, I’m Lily the Mother Goat. Please follow/like my Instagram and Facebook pages.

Weekly vigils and outreach with Toronto-area SavesToronto Pig Save has a firm commitment to hold at least three vigils or other vegan outreach events per week. We currently hold a Pig Save vigil in Burlington together with Cow Save and Chicken Save vigils in Toronto. We encourage everyone to attend a vigil. The more people who attend, the harder it is for society to ignore our protests of the abhorrent exploitation and cruelty to animals. Attending vigils is a daunting, traumatic, but empowering experience. Please join us. Scroll down for vigil schedule.

Leo Tolstoy defines the duty to bear witness as: “When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to him who suffers, and try to help him.” – from A Calendar of Wisdom

Zagreb Animal Save at ZeGeVege Festival
“The 11. ZeGeVege festival! 🙂 is one of the biggest vegan festivals in Europe with around 100 stall offering vegan options in food, cosmetics, clothing and more.
Activists from Zagreb Animal Save, The Save Movement’s chapter in Croatia, had their big booth in a 3x6m tent together with the Croatian chapters of Anonymous for the Voiceless and Direct Action Everywhere.
We had two amazing days of action, hanging out, getting to know each other, meeting people who want to join the movement here or in their country and even visiting tourists who are activists in other countries, who decided to spontaneously join in.
It was an amazing and powerful feeling to see how small the world is and how powerful our movement is!”

Quito Animal Save held a vigil for pigs on September 9. They report:
“They are treated like things, not even fruits are treated like this, as they can be damaged and cannot be sold.
They are beings without voice, but sentient beings, who are transported, unloaded and killed without mercy. They are merchandise.
Look at the first picture: they are thirsty.
Look at the second picture: they’re crowded.
Look at the third photo: their eyes say it all.”

Please watch and share: Luxembourg Animal Save held their second vigil on September 10 at the slaughter plant in Ettelbruck.
“For many activists, it has been their first vigil ever, and so it was pretty intense. We were very lucky to have some international activists there to support us.
So at 5.00 A.M. the trucks started coming. Pigs first, then sheep, then cows…
After a while, there were no more trucks coming and we wondered why – just to find out that they started pulling in the trucks through a gate at the back of the facility.
Dear animals, we´re sorry, and we promise we´ll be back soon.”

Zurich now has 2 Save groups!

Welcome Zurich Animal Save. Find them on Facebook and Instagram.

They join Schlachthaus-Nachtwache Zürich, which has been bearing witness for a year and a half.
They’ve already held 5 vigils, including 3 from August 27 to 31. Here’s their report:
“For many of us, this was one of the hardest weeks of our lives.
Three times – Monday, Wednesday and Friday – we got up in the middle of the night, made our way to Zurich and stood in front of a slaughterhouse for nearly three hours.
We are extremely grateful for each and every person that decided that getting up and being there for the animals was more important than a couple of additional hours of sleep.
Large numbers are important. And we’re happy to announce that with each event we’ve had so far, more people were showing up. This is important because it sends a message to other activists, to the public and to the slaughterhouse that animal rights matter and that animal suffering matters.
We need to show up regularly in order to evoke a change in the system.”

Montfoort Animal Save held their first vigil on September 13 at the Van Kooten Vleesgroothandel B.V. slaughter plant. They report:
“We said goodbye to more than 100 sheep. Sheep from 6 to 7 months old who are superfluous to the agricultural sector because they are born male.
On the one hand a very sad day.
On the other side a hopeful day!
A slaughterhouse that made it easy for us to cooperate fully.
Local media that gave us more attention and what we stand for. And almost 20 activists. Something that normally remains unseen for most people, we brought to light.
Thank you all for attending the vigil! And hopefully until the next “

Toronto Pig Save started in December 2010, with a promise to the pigs of doing a minimum of three vigils and vegan outreach events each week, all year round. We bear witness as a community of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animal victims in slaughterhouse trucks. The animals want us to be present and, with the most pleading eyes, ask for our help when we see them through the portholes of transport trucks. Just as if we were in those horrid trucks, we would want the whole community to be there fighting for our freedom, liberation, rights, and equality. In a way, we are there. All life is one and, “when (wo)men wish to harm others, they really do evil to themselves,” Leo Tolstoy said in his animal rights story “Esarhaddon, King of Assyria”. It’s our positive duty and obligation to act in the present to try to stop the most egregious injustices before us.
“When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy
In seven years, The Save Movement has grown to over 480 Save groups around the world. Our dream is to have regular vigils at every slaughter plant worldwide. We regularly give seed money to new Save groups and require funds for literature, posters, subway ad campaigns ( and vegan outreach events.
Make animal liberation your priority in life! Think of 10 kind things you can do each day and encourage your friends to do the same! Join us and participate in our weekly vigils, start a Save group in your community, and be a regular donor.
