This Monday: Vigil for 3,000 pigs at Van Boekel
Please join Toronto Pig Save, KW Animal Save, and London Pig Save at a vigil on Monday, June 4th at 7:30 pm, to mourn over 3,000 mother animals and their babies, burned alive on May 29th.
Thousands of pigs were trapped inside an Oxford County barn belonging to Eric Van Boekel. The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
Van Boekel famously had Anita Krajnc, co-founder of Toronto Pig Save and The Save Movement, charged for giving water to a thirsty pig who was suffering on one of his transport trucks bound for Fearmans slaughter plant in 2015.

At the Animal Liberation Conference in California, Toronto Pig Save and The Save Movement organizers and activists joined many other activists to fight for animal liberation.

Save Movement Worldwide Week of Vigils
Many Save Movement groups around the world will take part in this year’s 5-Day Save: June 11-15 will see the Save Movement Worldwide Week of Vigils. Join us!

Compassion in World Farming is organizing STOP Live Transport 2018, uniting a global movement against the cruelty of long-distance live animal transport. The pressure on policy makers is mounting, but tens of thousands of live animals are still being exported from the UK every year, and this suffering HAS to stop. A number of local activist groups around the world will take part in STOP Live Transport 2018. Setubal Animal Save in Portugal and Save Movement Puebla in Mexico will participate.
Please join us for Toronto Pig Save’s Vigil for International Day for the end of Live Transport on June 14.

Sound of Music Vegan Outreach
June 15-17, 3:00 pm
Please join us. This is a perfect location and event to do vegan outreach. We were there last year and it was amazing! We will be giving out FREE vegan food samples, vegan literature and paying people $5 cash to watch an 8-minute Animal Equality virtual reality documentary of a pig’s life from birth to slaughter that really makes people reconsider their ‘food’ choices.

If you would like to bear witness but don’t have Save vigils near you, consider starting a group.

Montreal Animal Save held their 10th vigil at the Marvid bird slaughter plant.
“A few minutes and a few meters from death …
The pain and dread circulate in the streets of Montreal every day.”

Mar del Plata Animal Save shared this video from their 10th vigil on June 2:
“In all there were 7 trucks full of fear, shit, cold and horror, sorry for all they have to live, I promise that one day this will end, hopefully soon.
Join us, the animals need us! “

Please watch: Doncaster Animal Save‘s first vigil
“This morning at our first Doncaster vigil at Iqbals ‘poultry’ factory in Thorne.
Some of the birds were already dead as their little bodies could not take any more.
They are so broken in their eyes and we wish we could reach inside and hold them. Give them soft green grass and fresh air.
RIP little angels.
We see you and we are sorry.”

Asheville Animal Save joined Augusta GA Animal Save and Rescue Inc on May 22 for a vigil for cows. Asheville Animal Save report:
“When some of us went along the railroad tracks at the side of the murder factory, there was the ever-present conveyor of fresh bloody skins hanging from hooks. We also were able to hear the mooing/bellowing of victims coming from the kill line/killing floor inside the hell-hole. R.I.P. There are no reasons that can justify this, only weak excuses.
Please eat something, NOT someone.”

North Carolina Farmed Animal Save‘s new billboard ads are LIVE in Wilmington, NC.
“Thanks to Ziggy’s Refuge Farm Sanctuary for letting us use this photo of 3 of their adorables: (L-R) Allie, Kristin, and Ziggy. We have 8 digital billboards up, each popping up for 8 seconds every minute of every hour- 24 hours a day for 4 weeks. Wilmington is going to Get The Message!”

Toronto Pig Save has a firm commitment to hold at least three vigils or other vegan outreach events per week. We currently hold a Pig Save vigil in Burlington together with Cow Save and Chicken Save vigils in Toronto. We encourage everyone to attend a vigil. The more people who attend, the harder it is for society to ignore our protests of the abhorrent exploitation and cruelty to animals. Attending vigils is a daunting, traumatic, but empowering experience. Please join us. Scroll down for vigil schedule.

Leo Tolstoy defines the duty to bear witness as: “When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to him who suffers, and try to help him.” – from A Calendar of Wisdom

Toronto Pig Save started in December 2010, with a promise to the pigs of doing a minimum of three vigils and vegan outreach events each week, all year round. We bear witness as a community of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animal victims in slaughterhouse trucks. The animals want us to be present and, with the most pleading eyes, ask for our help when we see them through the portholes of transport trucks. Just as if we were in those horrid trucks, we would want the whole community to be there fighting for our freedom, liberation, rights, and equality. In a way, we are there. All life is one and, “when (wo)men wish to harm others, they really do evil to themselves,” Leo Tolstoy said in his animal rights story “Esarhaddon, King of Assyria”. It’s our positive duty and obligation to act in the present to try to stop the most egregious injustices before us.
“When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy
In seven years, The Save Movement has grown to over 400 Save groups around the world. Our dream is to have regular vigils at every slaughter plant worldwide. We regularly give seed money to new Save groups and require funds for literature, posters, subway ad campaigns ( and vegan outreach events.
Make animal liberation your priority in life! Think of 10 kind things you can do each day and encourage your friends to do the same! Join us and participate in our weekly vigils, start a Save group in your community, and be a regular donor.
