Save Movement Worldwide Week of Vigils
Many Save Movement groups around the world will take part in this year’s 5-Day Save: June 11-15 will see the Save Movement Worldwide Week of Vigils. Join us!

Compassion in World Farming is organizing STOP Live Transport 2018, uniting a global movement against the cruelty of long-distance live animal transport. The pressure on policy makers is mounting, but tens of thousands of live animals are still being exported from the UK every year, and this suffering HAS to stop. A number of local activist groups around the world will take part in STOP Live Transport 2018. Setubal Animal Save in Portugal and Save Movement Puebla in Mexico will participate.

Sound of Music Vegan Outreach
June 15-17, 3:00 pm
Please join us. This is a perfect location and event to do vegan outreach. We were there last year and it was amazing! We will be giving out FREE vegan food samples, vegan literature and paying people $5 cash to watch an 8-minute Animal Equality virtual reality documentary of a pig’s life from birth to slaughter that really makes people reconsider their ‘food’ choices.

If you would like to bear witness but don’t have Save vigils near you, consider starting a group.

We will help you every step of the way.

Hi, I’m Lily the Mother Goat.

Just like cows and humans, goats produce milk for their own babies. Humans are the only animals who steal and drink the milk of other animals and the only animals who drink milk as adults.
Kinda weird when you think about it!

Climate Vegan‘s core message is: Help save the planet by going vegan and becoming active.

Our love of animal products is killing us and all of Earth’s inhabitants. 60 percent of all mammals on Earth are livestock. Just 4 percent are wild animals. Animal agriculture is the leading cause of habitat destruction and if we don’t change, soon there will be nothing left. If you love this planet, our beautiful home, as much as I do, then please consider making a change for the better by cutting out animal products completely.

Georgetown Cow Save held their first event on May 25. They report:
“Thank you to everyone who came out to our first event outside of Saputo We received lots of support from those driving past within the two hours we were present. A local online newspaper from Acton came out to take some video footage of what we are up to. Remember that all are welcome – we hope to see you in the future!”

Compassion is not a crime!
Brisbane Animal Save report on a positive development for the future of bearing witness:
“Two Brisbane Animal Save activists were charged after our vigil at JBS Dinmore last month. Today they walked away from court without a conviction.
We hope that next time, a safety agreement can be reached so that the court’s time is not again wasted.”
The case received press coverage:

Save Movement Denmark report from their May 18 vigil:
“We had our first ever vigil in Aarhus at Århus Slagtehus this weekend.
Århus Slagtehus is located right in the middle of Aarhus. Thousands of people are passing by this sinister place every single day and many of these are not even aware that there’s a slaughterhouse here in Aarhus, the city of smiles.
Every single week about a thousand cows are being transported to Aarhus from all over Jutland. Their sorry life ends here. They are forced into the line of death. One by one they will get shot in the head with the bolt gun, one by one they will get their throats slit. It’s a sad and horrible thing. It has to end.”

WATCH Wittlich Pig Save‘s video:
“‘I’m so sorry’ is all we can say, though it will never alleviate their suffering. No matter how deeply we might feel sorry for them, we couldn’t possibly make them understand. We can’t save them.”

WATCH Hong Kong Pig Save‘s video from their May 27 vigil:
“…there was a chance that she could run for her dear life… but she was too frightened to move.”

Fort Wayne Animal Save activist Sky reports from the Tyson slaughter plant:
“Each of these animals were individuals with their own personality and in the 5 hours since I’ve taken these pictures, they have all been reduced to a package of flesh to put on a shelf in a WalMart or something. 6 months of life ripped away violently for 10 minutes of pleasure.”

Toronto Pig Save has a firm commitment to hold at least three vigils or other vegan outreach events per week. We currently hold a Pig Save vigil in Burlington together with Cow Save and Chicken Save vigils in Toronto. We encourage everyone to attend a vigil. The more people who attend, the harder it is for society to ignore our protests of the abhorrent exploitation and cruelty to animals. Attending vigils is a daunting, traumatic, but empowering experience. Please join us. Scroll down for vigil schedule.

Leo Tolstoy defines the duty to bear witness as: “When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to him who suffers, and try to help him.” – from A Calendar of Wisdom

Toronto Pig Save started in December 2010, with a promise to the pigs of doing a minimum of three vigils and vegan outreach events each week, all year round. We bear witness as a community of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animal victims in slaughterhouse trucks. The animals want us to be present and, with the most pleading eyes, ask for our help when we see them through the portholes of transport trucks. Just as if we were in those horrid trucks, we would want the whole community to be there fighting for our freedom, liberation, rights, and equality. In a way, we are there. All life is one and, “when (wo)men wish to harm others, they really do evil to themselves,” Leo Tolstoy said in his animal rights story “Esarhaddon, King of Assyria”. It’s our positive duty and obligation to act in the present to try to stop the most egregious injustices before us.
“When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy
In seven years, The Save Movement has grown to over 400 Save groups around the world. Our dream is to have regular vigils at every slaughter plant worldwide. We regularly give seed money to new Save groups and require funds for literature, posters, subway ad campaigns ( and vegan outreach events.
Make animal liberation your priority in life! Think of 10 kind things you can do each day and encourage your friends to do the same! Join us and participate in our weekly vigils, start a Save group in your community, and be a regular donor.
